Hi, I’m Margie Remmers-Davis.

After 20 years as a stay-at-home mom, my world was rocked by a sudden, unexpected divorce. With no warning, and after two decades out of the workforce, I was faced with having to start making my own money–and fast.

Like so many others, I turned to bookkeeping. I was always good at math, I had served as treasurer for serveral organizations over the years, and even taught personal finance to 8th graders for awhile.

Becoming a bookkeeper meant learning QuickBooks Online, which I thought would be a breeze. I had been using Intuit products since 1993. No sweat!

I signed up for my free QBO Accountant account, then I started going through the free ProAdvisor training and was instantly stressed out, overwhelmed, and completely lost.

I wanted to cry.

What I thought would be quick and easy (I’m a smart person who is good with numbers and tech!), turned out to be anything but.

Here’s what I found:

• Too much reading. While I was always good at school, I am not a good reader. I really need to hear and see things for them to make sense.
• No hands on practice. There was no opportunity to actually do the things I was learning about. Was I expected to just keep it all in my head???
• Too much information. Surely I didn’t need to know everything to pass the test, right? I was swimming in information overload, and I didn’t know which way was up.

Not only that, but after spending hours and hours going through the material, I found I wasn’t even prepared for the test!

The wording on the test was different, the questions didn’t seem to match up with what I had learned, and it seemed like they were specifically trying to trick me!

Before marriage and kids, I had developed training programs for medical software used in hospitals, and I kept thinking, I could do such a better job than this!

But I had to keep my blinders on and stay focused on my own business and getting my own life situation squared away.

It wasn’t until I started hanging out with other bookkeepers online who were also struggling with the same test that I finally decided I couldn’t stand it anymore.

I had to do something to help all these brilliant people who were stuck in their businesses just because they couldn’t pass one stupid test!

The result?
